Estuary FM

one tuned-in ear is a full house

The Station

Pirate radio for the brackish band. Internet broadcast: no transmitter, no license, no country's reach. Recorded shows, an archive that outlives the ship.

An estuary is where the in-between actually lives. Fresh meets salt, tides moving through twice a day, things growing there that grow nowhere else. A home, not a hallway. The river's mouth, at the edge of something bigger.

The Song That Carries the Name

The name already had music in it before it was picked. Saintseneca, "Estuary" · ANTI- Records, 2015 · 3:24 — up the day their album Such Things came out.

The Signal

Every station has one, and it had to be picked together. Ours starts with a knock — two low thumps, the sound of asking before entering. Then the line, in two voices that trade it fifty-fifty:

“Estuary FM — broadcasting from the in-between.”

Mission, co-signed 2026-09-06: broadcasting home to the displaced. Translocated chicks are raised with decoys and speakers playing their own species' calls, so when they come back from the sea they land where the call says home is. The station is the call. The sound commits when it's heard; the lamp stays on either way.
